2018 has been a busy year for North & West Coast Links already and here is just a quick recap of what we have been up to.
New Golf & Accommodation Brochure 2018
As per previous years we did a lot of work on this during November / December but it is always a big task to get it completed in time for The PGA Show. We held meetings in December with Clubs, Hotels and then set about the task of pulling it all together in early Jan. Amanda Moore, our Designer is always a great help and came to our offices in an effort to finalize it. We launched our new brochure at the PGA Show and you can download the new version from our website.
USA Irish Golf Day, Meetings and PGA Show 2018
Paul and John travelled to Orlando on 20th Jan to host the 7th Irish Golf Day, to carry out meetings and to attend the Show. This was our busiest year yet over the course of the week and we took full advantage of all of the meetings we had set up prior to travel.
We set up at The Golden Bear Club on Sunday 21st – stands, goody bags, meetings with the staff – helped out by John Farren, Alan Maloney, Garth McCausland and Brendan Keogh. We then hosted the Day on Monday 22nd. We had 96 players and Paul took care of Registration. We had VPar for the scoring using an app on our phones, a new development for them – this gave a live leader board while playing and on a screen in the clubhouse. We treated all to a big breakfast followed by a welcome and announcements for the day. Our Shotgun began at 10.15am and after golf we had lunch, speeches and presentation of prizes.
Again this is a big day for us all prior to The PGA Show. It allows us to meet members of the media, golf tour operators, group leaders and other members of the Irish golf trade. It sets the scene for the week ahead.
We then all attended The Annual PGA Show at the Orange County Convention Centre. We shared our usual stand with the other Golf Trade and had an extremely busy show. We had a lot of meetings and was one of our busiest years to date.
We did a number of interviews – TV and Radio and also did interviews with journalists Marty Kaufmann Golf Week and John Steinbreder Golf Post
Failte Ireland Golf Society Evening
We then attended the Failte Ireland Golf promotion evening in the Europa Belfast. We always use this night to try and catch up with all our member courses as the majority of them will be in attendance. We get a chance to discuss about their plans for the 2018 season and how we can be of assistance in any way possible. We also had a few meetings earlier in the day as well, so its always a very worthwhile day out for us.
Honda Classic 2018
John traveled over to Florida this February to attend the 2018 Honda Classic. This is normally a very busy week with just ourselves and Swing Golf Ireland sharing the Golf Ireland booth. We had a number of meetings set up throughout the week as well as being in attendance of the Honda Classic Pro-Am dinner. We got the chance to talk with some really public figures in the golf world and promote the North & West of Ireland to the golfing industry. We once again donated a golf trip to Ireland to be auctioned off as a prize at the Pro-Am dinner. All proceeds go to charity and our prize is always one that is highly sought after.
PGA Of Sweden Summit 2018
John traveled over to Halmstad last week for the PGA Summit. There was a number of very interesting speakers and seminars over the 3 days. John managed to catch up with our colleagues from Golf Plaisir whom we had over on a Fam Trip last year to the North West of Ireland. John also had the opportunity to meet with a number of women from the Swedish Golf Federation and to talk about plans for the 2018 season. It was a very promising and worthwhile few days.
