This is a recap of all the events we have attended in the months of January & February this year.

CMT Stuttgart Germany 19th – 22nd Jan

We again took a stand in association with ITST who manned it on our behalf as it clashed with The PGA Show. This is a large consumer show with a quarter of a million people in attendance. Our booth was in the Golf & Wellness section.

USA Irish Golf Day & PGA Show 21st – 29th Jan

Both Paul and John travelled to Orlando to host the 6th Irish Golf Day and to attend the Show. This year there was a new venue for the Irish Golf Day – The Golden Bear Club, close to Orlando. They set up on Sunday 22nd and prepared the goody bags, and were there early on Monday 23rd to welcome and register all participants. VPar were again on hand to organise the scoring and each foursome had their hand held device to enter the scores. There was a live leader board in the clubhouse. The morning consisted of registration and breakfast for all, followed by some announcements for the day ahead. There was a shotgun start at 9am. After golf, they all had lunch followed by guest speakers and the presentation of prizes.

On the Thursday of the Show we had Donal Hughes don a Star Wars suit and walk the show. He posed for circa 1500 photos and our logo was in each one and a business card handed out to all who wanted a photo. He was also interviewed by The Golf Channel and it was aired. This promotion was in conjunction with the filming of Star Wars last summer in Donegal.

Golf Society Evening Belfast 7th Feb

We attended the Golf Society Evening in Belfast with some of our clubs, most of whom had attended our North and West Coast Links meeting earlier that day at The Europa. The Society Evening was well attended again this year and we all met a lot of people. We sent out packages following the event. The clubs also reported a busy evening.

US Honda Classic and Sales Calls 18th – 26th Feb

John travelled to the US to attend the Honda Classic and carry out sales calls with our network of contacts in this area. He met with Kevin Given, joint owner of Quail Valley Golf Club . Kevin is originally from Donegal and arranges most of his trips through Carr Golf. They had dinner and discussed his client’s requirements for Ireland. He is coming over shortly with his brother and  John extended an invitation to play our courses.

He then met with Michelle Jacobs, Corporate Director of Operations at The Florida Mall and wdiscussed marketing opportunities for 2018 in conjunction with The Honda Classic. John also met with Steve Rockoff from The First Tee Organisation and Donna Molinaro from Jofit Clothing, both interested in putting trips together for 2018.

On the Tuesday evening both Brendan Keogh and John attended the Pro Am Charity Auction and our trip donation raised $5k for the Neediest Kids Charity. John met many Honda dealers, other Pro Am participants and some of the Pros. He also spent some time with Matt and Donna Adams, Matt was covering the event also for the Golf Channel.

Our booth was busy for the event – it was just Swing and ourselves so we were kept going for the duration. We went through 7 boxes of brochures throughout the week with only business cards left for Sunday. Ken Kennerly, the Tournament Director is always a great help, makes many introductions and keeps us in the loop with what is going on.
